Opener- Chuck Baird

Make a claim about the author's voice, and support it.

The author has an outspoken voice, because all of his paintings involve subtle, non-verbal items and symbols.

Identify a culture within these paintings.

The culture of these is that of the hearing impaired, because two paintings contain hand signals/ sign language, one has lip-reading, and another shows a "broken" ear, all of which are symbols for deafness.

Write a claim about the author's culture based on these paintings.

Based on the content, voice, and culture of these paintings, I am claiming that Chuck Baird is deaf or hearing-impaired.
